My Favorite Restaurants in Seville, Spain for Lunch and Dinner

I love to eat. I love good food. Eating fabulous food makes me excited to be alive. I laugh now because I used to think that Spanish food was kind of drab and underwhelming compared to other cuisines. It didn’t excite my taste buds. But now I realize how wrong I was and how delicious Spanish food can be.

I ate a lot food when I was in Seville. I am embarrassed to say it, but we rarely ever cooked at home. Eating out in Seville is so cheap comparatively, so we found ourselves going out more often than not. We have tried so many different restaurants in the area, and I am confident that I have found some of the best ones in the city.

Here is a list of my favorite eats in Seville for lunch and dinner. Enjoy!

Delicious burger tapa at La Chala.

La Chala

La Chala caught me by surprise. I had passed it so many times on my way walking to the Rio Guadalquivir. It has a large shaded outside seating area that is so fun to dine at in the warmer months. Everything that I have tried there has been fantastic where I am practically licking my plate. It’s the type of place that when you leave you are already making mental plans to come back the next day. They serve mostly Spanish food, done in a creative way, so it is impossible to be bored here.

What to Order?

I recommend the burgers and the curry chicken fried pastries with the honey almond sauce. They also do a savory spin on the traditional Granada pastry, piononos. Instead of being sweet, they are filled with sausage and a creamy butter sauce, then topped with edible flowers. Finger licking good.

The signature dish at ConTenedor – crispy rice with duck.

ConTenedor

This is probably the nicest restaurant in Seville (next to the only Michelin starred restaurant, Abantal) and is great for special occasions or if you just really want to feel pampered. This place books out very quickly so making a reservation is a must. The server goes over the handwritten chalkboard menu with you at your table and describes all the dishes that they offer. The restaurant as a whole is a little stuffy, but they probably have a right to be. We loved all the food, but the only thing we didn’t care for was the dessert. We ordered two that our waiter recommended, but they were nothing to write home about. We didn’t even finish them that night, and this girl ALWAYS finishes her dessert. But even with that con, this restaurant has great service, great food, and great ambience. Go check it out.

What to Order?

Everything that we ordered was really delicious, but the stand out of the evening was the signature crispy rice with duck. It was exquisite. My husband says it is the best thing that he ate during his whole 4 month stay in Seville. We also loved the fresh cheese and bread platter.

Jimmy waiting patiently for La Brunilda to open their doors for lunch.

La Brunilda

This place is listed on every travel website and blog about Seville known to man, but for good reason. This place is dam good. But the downside to its amazing food and popularity is that it is ALWAYS busy. Like the type of busy where you go and leave, because the line out the door 15 minutes before they open is just too long for you to bare. You come back again the next day and it is just as busy as the day before and you wonder if it is worth it to wait. The locals use to love this place but rarely go anymore because it is now a tourist hot spot and that turns them off from coming. However, if you can snag a table, consider yourself lucky. The service is fantastic and every dish is full of love and passion. If you go, arrive before they open to avoid the line. Closed Mondays.

What to Order?

You can’t go wrong with what you order, but I love the mushroom risotto and the homemade croquettes. This pork and sweet potato dish with beet puree pictured below was stellar too.

Grilled Ibérico pork shoulder with apple puree and pistachio pesto at Bartolomea.

Bartolomea

After trying to dine at La Brunilda and being disappointed when the hostess told me it was a 45-minute wait, we ate at Bartolomea and it became our new favorite restaurant. Bartolomea is a new sister restaurant to La Brunilda. It has practically the same food as La Brunilda but without the crazy long lines and wait times. You can usually walk right in when it opens and get a table, but this will probably change soon as the word gets out about this place. We have loved everything that we have ordered here. This is my number one place to eat in Seville. Go try it out and let me know what you think.

What to Order?

The cream of white asparagus soup, the croquettes, the cheese and bread platter with fig jam – seriously everything is to die for. Our favorite is the grilled Ibérico pork shoulder with apple puree and pistachio pesto is divine. The desserts are so creative and fun, and they are always changing them up.

A daily special item at Sal Gorda using the famous Seville jamón.

Sal Gorda

Good quality for the price – nothing beats Sal Gorda. Sal Gorda makes Spanish food done right and your wallet doesn’t suffer either. We love checking out their daily tapas specials – they end up being the best thing that we ordered. We prefer sitting on one of the outside tables rather than the inside ones, but snag it quickly because so does everybody else. This place is cute, simple, and the perfect place to meet up with a friend for a casual meal.

What to Order?

You can’t go wrong with their patatas bravas which is a famous Spanish dish of fried potatoes with a spicy red sauce and a creamy white sauce on top. They do a fun play on the traditional tortillas de patata dish where they combine those flavors and put it into little egg shaped cups, turning it into a savory layered pudding that you eat with a spoon. Yum.

Homemade pumpkin filled pasta at La Locanda.

La Locanda

If you want good homemade pasta that makes you feel like you’re dining in Italy, go to La Locanda. What’s interesting about this place is that it serves Italian food but it's located in Spain, so they cater their dishes to the Spanish community by doing Italian tapa dishes. The portions are small like when you go out for tapas – meant to be shared with family and friends. And the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We love sitting outside on the few tables along the street and people watching while we eat. It makes for a fantastic end to the day. But the inside is adorable as well with the miniature chair collection that they have on display.

What to Order?

The homemade gnocchi was so fresh and delicious. My favorite dish was the gorgonzola and pear ravioli. The flavors are so unique and pair really well together. The carbonara pasta was delicious too.

Funky yet refined decor at No-Lugar The Art Company.

No-Lugar The Art Company

When we first heard of this place we didn’t think it was a restaurant. The name just doesn’t scream food or dining. Once we realized what it was and tried it, we were hooked. This place is so cute on the inside and full of charm. All of the tables are pre-set with beautiful dishes and table decorations, making it feel like you are dining at someone’s home for a fancy dinner. This restaurant has a lot of American vibes. If I didn’t know where I was I would think that I had stepped temporarily into New York City. The menu is completely in English, and the food is healthy, modern and American-ish. Delicious, and nice to change things up from the traditional food you find in Seville.

What to Order?

I recommend the pear and gorgonzola manicotti and the jerk chicken sandwich with mango sauce. Their homemade dips with pita bread are tasty too. Ok, now I'm hungry...

The modern and chic decor at Lobo Lopez.

Lobo Lopez

This restaurant is one of my favorites to go to. It is so modern inside and the dining space is huge for Seville. It is a popular place for hen parties and other special occasions. It has a super hip and fun atmosphere with cool murals on the wall and other fun décor. Their food is as good as their decorations are cute. At the end of the meal, they bring each guest a complimentary squirt of homemade fruit flavored foam in a little shot glass, often times passion fruit or lemon flavored. It might be smart to snag a reservation, as this place tends to fill up pretty quickly.

What to Order?

The tempura vegetables are delicious for vegetarians and carnivores alike, and their wok noodle dishes are made fresh and are full of flavor. We loved the flavors of the Thai Wok entree. They have great coffee and drinks too.

Calle Rosario, 15

Now, go and devour all of this amazing food in Seville. Hurry! I promise you won't regret it. If you try any of these places during your time there, I'd love to know what you thought about it and what you ordered in the comments below. Happy eating!
