Best Brunch in Coeur d'Alene – Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Best Brunch in Coeur d'Alene – Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Brunch is my favorite meal of the day, and Sunday brunch takes the cake for my favorite meal of the week. When I think about brunch I think of creative and delicious menu items, great conversation with family and friends, an exceptional cocktail in hand, relaxation in a great dining space, all on a day where you don't have to be anywhere. So nice!

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho has some great brunch places that are not to be missed! I’ve compiled a list of my top 6 favorite brunch spots ranked from my favorite to least favorite (also my favorite healthy option!) that you need to visit on your next trip to CDA. I hope you enjoy!

*****UPDATED JULY 14th, 2021****

#1 Garnet Café

Garnet Café is a farm to table breakfast place inside of an old house off of 4th Street. It’s a no frill, laid back, focused on simplicity brunch place, but it’s simplicity done well. Their food is amazing and never disappoints. The “Breakfast Spaghetti,” a signature dish, comes with sun dried tomatoes, herbed goat cheese, parmesan, and eggs on top. Add pesto if you wish or some duck sausage! Even though I first thought it odd to have spaghetti for brunch, it is surprisingly delicious. I love their omelette too, the Hayden Omelette being my favorite, with cheddar, bacon, tomato, and avocado. Every dish is served with toasted fresh bread, the rosemary sourdough being my favorite. I love the raspberry jam and lemon curd that they serve as a topping with their toast. So delicious. Besides having great food, Garnet Café has a fun vibe that makes you feel like you’re at home. I also love how they show their support for local Coeur d’Alene artists. Artwork is displayed throughout the restaurant for guests to purchase if desired.

#2 Izzy’s Comfort Kitchen

Izzy’s is on my favorite list for CDA eats, but did you know that they also serve brunch? Izzy’s make southern comfort food and their brunch does not disappoint. Can you say bottomless mimosas for $12 with a variety of different juice choices?! Izzy’s brunch menu consists of Idaho Benedict with fries instead of an English muffin, polenta cakes with poached eggs, bread pudding bites, and a brunch burger with egg and bacon, among other things. You’ll have to go a few times to try everything because it all looks and sounds amazing. Their brunch is offered every Saturday and Sunday morning, so don’t miss it!

#3 Terraza Waterfront Café

Terraza Waterfront Café is a new restaurant in Coeur d’Alene that is not to be missed. Besides the higher prices for the area, I have yet to find something that I don’t love about this place. The outdoor space is perfection, with views of the Spokane River. The umbrella tables create some nice shade for the guests and on extra hot days they have misters to cool you down. Terraza makes a delicious and unique bunch menu serving things like posole (Mexican stew), Chilaquiles (Mexican breakfast made with tortilla chips simmered in sauce) or for something a little sweeter some masa griddle cakes with chocolate and banana. I want to try all of the brunch menu items and of course, pair them with their signature cocktail list. Terraza is making a huge splash in the CDA foodie scene, and I am here for it. Their brunch menu is offered every Saturday and Sunday morning.

#4 Jimmy’s Down the Street

Jimmy’s Down the Street is hands-down the cutest diner in the Coeur d’Alene area. It became famous after Guy Fieri visited and showcased their food on his food and travel show, “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.” My son, Jimmy, was particularly excited about visiting this diner because of the name. The vibe is adorable with 50’s music playing, (lots of Elvis) and license plates hung up all over the walls. The coffee is hot and comes with constant refills which is a win in my book. We loved “Jimmy’s Chimi,” a biscuits and gravy chimichanga filled with eggs and bacon. Their pecan rolls are also a must-try. We got them battered and fried, served as french toast sticks that we smothered in maple syrup. This place has been around for years and when you dine there the chaos of life seems to stop for a minute. It’s a simple, classic, retro diner that anyone will get a kick out of visiting.

#5 Belles Brunch House

Belles Brunch House in Hayden came to town in 2019, so it’s fairly new, but it’s made quite the impact! They make a wide variety of Ma and Pa type brunch dishes that are simple and classic. It’s a great place for some perfectly cooked over easy eggs, salty bacon, and crispy hash browns at a really great price. Their Spicy Chicken and Waffles is a must-try with the sweet and savory flavors. Their cinnamon rolls are to die for, made fresh in house, and they are huge! Make sure to try their homemade biscuits with fresh strawberry jam. They are so good1 They also do $7 mimosas with several different flavors, including a local huckleberry mimosa!

#6 Le Peep Café

Le Peep is a great spot if you’re looking for brunch with a view. It is located right on the Spokane River at The Village at Riverstone. In the summertime when the weather is nice, is it lovely to sit outside in their outdoor seating area. Their portions are large and their prices are reasonable. I’d recommend getting something on the sweet side at Le Peep for brunch like their pancakes, french toast, or crepes. They do a “Pancake of the Month” that is fun to try, featuring new seasonal pancakes specialities. Their stuffed French toast is also very popular filled with cream cheese and vanilla ricotta with a hint of orange and lemon zest. Le Peep isn’t the best food in town, but the location makes up for it. Le Peep is a franchise with many locations across the U.S. Even though I tend to shy away from eating at franchises and prefer to eat local, it is a franchise that I can get behind with its cool location and local vibe.

Healthy Choice-

Wellness Bar

If you’re looking for a lighter brunch experience that is a bit more healthful, the Wellness Bar is a great choice. They make delicious acaį bowls, smoothies, and fresh raw juices. I’ve loved everything that I’ve had here, but my all time favorite menu item that I keep coming back for is their açaí bowl called, “The Bomb.” The Bomb is their most popular menu item. It is blended with frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, and frozen blueberries and topped with granola, coconut flakes, fresh berries, almond butter, and a drizzle of honey. All of the good stuff. There is a Wellness Bar in Coeur d’Alene and in Hayden, so be sure to check them out on those days when you need something fresh and light.
